Before anybody corrects me; I know very well that cruise control does not give the most economical drive - it simply tries to maintain very close to a constant speed. I could have eked out a little more mileage by adopting fuel economy competition techniques but I didn't; this was simply a relaxing cruise that happened to result in the lowest fuel consumption I have ever seen with this car and which is not really representative of normal use.

Good luck - I spent years looking ( I kid you not) never found a good one - least that I was quick enough off the mark to get dibs on.
Settled eventually for a V70 AWD R......Thankfully not yet the money pit these cars can be - Owned it 6 years coming up and now has 92K.
A T5 makes you smile
An AWD R makes you grin.....

Cheers

Bob

Simple answer....with hindsight I would perhaps not bought my 2.4 170. It's fine in general terms but lacks torque and needs to be revved (certainly in auto form) to make progress.

Personally, much as I like it, I would not want a car so lacking in torque again. Without getting into yet another power versus torque discussion, having 170bhp is fine...having to rev the car so hard to get to it, is not. The up side is it's a very simple, easy to maintain engine.

What age of T5 are you looking for? I have a sorted 2002 manual SE (140000 miles) with the Shark remap, I'll be selling in the new year. I've owned the car for nearly 7 years. I'm only selling because I spotted my "dream" V70 on here.

I totally understand if you are in the market for something newer.

The V50 T5 uses a 2.5L turbocharged engine with a slightly lower output than the V70.

My wife has a V50 20D (again with Shark remap), the car is brilliant to drive, superb chassis, but I just have a thing for V70's.

The new 2.5 T5 engine has a ****-poor 225 (ish) bhp and is terrible on fuel compared to the older 2.3 T5 (247 bhp) and the facelift 2.4 T5 (260bhp). If you start trying to tune them, they can start splitting liners and costing a fortune.

I am looking for a 2004/5 facelift but it must be auto wife wont drive manual
I will keep looking I have considered a euro 3 D5 I don't want a DPF doesn't
suit my needs so the 2.4 petrol sounds a bit sluggish so its a T5 or 2.5T

looked at a 163 euro 3 d5 locally but the service history was sketchy and it had been towing a 24 foot caravan so I passed but I would consider a no DPF diesel if I can find a good one with service history and reasonable mileage

thanks for the help and info

You posted your problem on a 5.5 year old thread which had run it's course.

Get your codes read and begin a new thread.

When you do, post the code number and be descriptive of the problem if you can.

As above, start a new thread.

However it means there's a fault on the engine management system, you'll need to read stored codes then update the new thread.
