I think thats only possible if he had the 6CD factory installed to begin with.

Does anybody know which changer mechanisms are compatible with the xc90. I have been checking eBay but they're very expensive. My XC90 is a 2005 and the dash changer says Mitsubishi Electrics on the case. My thoughts are that there will be a few units out there which would have the internal mechanism that will fit the unit. A GM part is mentioned in this thread. Thank you in advance

Hi Joe,

I've got the same problem as others had - battery obviously disconnected while the car was having work recently.

Can I ask whether you would be prepared to explain to me how to change the CD changing mechanism.

Thanks in anticipation of your help.

Universal instructions for changing CD mechs:

Remove unit from vehicle and place on workbench
Remove covers from unit
Unscrew CD mech retaining screws
Unplug CD mech
Remove CD mech

Reassembly is a reversal of the above

Note that if a new CD mech has a shipping screw locking the mech, this must be removed before fitment.
