Default help! alarm/immobiliser problem

Hi, I have a 1995 850 T5 estate. The key fob stopped working and when I opened the door, the alarm and immobiliser were activated. Unable to get the fob working, even with new batteries, so called out the AA. The AA tech disconnected the small green plug from the alarm relay, then unplugged
the relay (12pin afaik), no joy, so he fiddled with the relay and 'half' plugged it in. This worked and I was able to start the car and get some

So.. what now? if I plug the relay back in Fully, the alarm and immobiliser are activated - can I reprogram a new remote while the alarm/immob are active? or will I have to pay a visit to the stealers...? Is there any way to deactivate the alarm whilst it is in this state, ie without using a remote fob?

To be honest it is so long ago i fiddled with alarm fobs i have forgotten most of it...

That said, the relay should DE-activate using the door key in the door lock irrespective of whether or not the key fob is working...

If this fails to work, remove fuse 6, this should stop the alarm sounding and DE-activate the central locking...Then remove fuse 16 (estates only) and wait 20 seconds or more...Re-introduce fuse 16 and then 6...IIRC this method is dependant on the Volvo-Guard System you have...

If it don't work don't shoot me, im getting old...

Thanks Jod, the fuse pulling did the trick. It looks like my remote is fried, it will make a small squeak when either buttons are pressed, but stops doing this after 4 or 5 clicks. I have another remote but it's the wrong frequency for my car. The remote I need (2 ideally) does not have open/close written next to the battery cover, instead it has 2 dots. The remote that won't work has open/close on the case.

Anyone have a couple of remotes for sale, and does anyone need a remote orcwant to do a swap?

Hi buddy,

I know your response was from a while back but would you know if there is a version of ‘fuse 6 and fuse 16’ process for the saloon? I’m trying to de-activate the immobiliser for my 1996 850R...whilst still keeping the alarm and central locking going. Thanks in advance.
