Default XC60 Bonnet Lock Broken

I had the warning light come on for the bonnet open, and after checking seems the passenger side bonnet lock is broken and will not close. So looks like i am going to have to replace it. seems the part no is 31425974.

To replace this will I have to remove the whole of the front bumper, or does anyone know if there is an easier and quicker way to do this?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Also, I have a feeling I am going to have to replace both sides as the micro switch on the drivers side is where the bonnet open alarm is coming from.

Very common. It’s probably fine - spray a generous amount of wd40 on the left hand side latch (drivers side). Have a poke with a flathead and make sure it moves freely. Soak her in wd40 again and the message should disappear.

Thanks, however the passenger side is still broken and won't lock. so i will need to replace this. Will i need to removed the front bumper to change it over? I have spayed both with loads of WD40, message now seems intermittent, but passenger one will not lock. Tried to close it with a flat head screwdriver, and it will not catch at all.

Hi,

According to VIDA, for XC60 MY2015, you have to remove bumper front to access bonnet latches.
And, when installing new one: "Make sure that the bolts are not tightened until the hood is closed". Torque: M6, 10Nm.
