1997 940 for sale
£1000
For sale 1997 Volvo 940 2.3 lpt celebration. With a reg plate for the Volvo purist R940 NUY I found this sitting on a gravel driveway where it had sat for 9 years since being parked up. I had every intention of going through it to mot it & keep as my own for many years (love these cars). However after talking with the wife & thinking about it I would rather spend the next year making memories with the family than laying / sitting under a car in whatever weather. Onto the car & what I know about it. I’m the 4th owner it has 172k miles on it. It has service history up to 171k miles & was serviced just before being taken off the road. Stamps are a mixture of main dealer & Volvo specialist. 3 sets of keys. This is a 7 seater model in metallic red. 5 speed manual m90 gearbox. Egg crate grill. Abs, Air conditioning. Volvo rubber floor protectors genuine boot cover. Lovely half leather seats in fantastic condition. 3 of the 4 door cards are un wrinkled the 4th has very minor wrinkling. Walnut wood trim interior. electric windows all round. all exterior trim is on the car & not missing. The only corrosion is on the back of the battery tray common area on these not bad at all. some paint flaking on parts under the car ie anti roll bars etc.. The bodywork has some marks paint chips & a few small dings that a paintless dent repairer could sort easily nothing major. The first job I started to tackle was a leaking fuel filler neck & split fuel hose. I have sourced & installed a filler neck & ordered what I believe to be the last fuel neck to tank hose. Still waiting for the hose I can fit it or leave it for the buyer to do themselves. No issues with leaking fuel as the tank is bone dry. When I was looking at the Volvo its battery was dead but I did use a jumper pack to turn the engine over which it did smoothly & without any strange noises. No sign of mixed oil & coolant. The car moved freely from its resting place to my house. This car will need all the fluids changing due to the length of time sat still. Im sure there’s more but if you want to know anymore just call or message me. Silly offers will be ignored. I would prefer the car to sell complete but will brake if the offers aren’t in the right area. |

Small update. The Volvo has now had the brake system vacuum bled. The fuel tank was removed & cleaned & a walbro 255 lph pump installed & new filter. Painted the tank straps & brackets to make em look better & last longer. All back on the car & all hoses are attached. Today I have flushed the power steering system all ready to go. I also put a new battery on turned the key & nothing no priming. First thing I did was to check the relay opened it up & put a hot soldering iron over the solder points. Reinstalled & tried again she's priming now. Just waiting for a new seal for the pcv a thermostat & oil filter then it's the first start attempt for 9 years.

After all your hard work so far, it would be a shame to risk it just for the sake of skimping a bit of time and money to fit a new belt and tensioner!
