I've already responded to your post on the Pholuses (Pholii?), i think they look better than i imagined!

I may consider doing something similar to you with the winter wheels/tyres in the fullness of time, depending of course whether i can find the right summer wheels that i'd be looking for.
If I do ever convert the RB to an EV then I'd be tempted to go for a minimum intrusion design. Find a small, 75 kW (100 HP)-ish motor that I could fit in the transmission tunnel, have no gearbox and put a layer of battery packs low down in the bonnet to keep the CofG low, and maybe have some storage space above (spare tyre, that sort of thing). I have a feeling batteries will not have progressed that far in 15 years time (the physics problem of ripping an electron from an atom and putting it somewhere else won't go away) so the range wouldn't be that great anyway - hence my idea of the least intrusive installation possible.

This would only be a fall back position in case someone bans ICEs completely.

I'm really glad you liked the wheels - I'm absolutely delighted with them.

Alan

I like that idea for the layout of the motor, batteries etc Alan, if i ever have to do the same for the same reason then that's the general idea i'll follow.
I'd have to come up with a different idea for the Rover as that is FWD but as it has equal length driveshafts (no torque steer! ) it should make life easier.

Losing the petrol tank would also free up space for batteries and/or control gear on whatever vehicle, the advantage of a RWD vehicle is you have a transmission tunnel which can hide the motor and the engine bay can house the batteries, fuel filler flap becomes a door for the charging point....................

You've certainly done yourself proud on the wheels, for a total cost of ~£60 plus some labour you've got a very presentable, very nice set of wheels.

... perhaps you are right about the RB being worth £10,000 one day:

... a nice enough car, but the world is going mad.

Sometimes I think I'm gaga for running a 40 year old motor car now :-)

Even with the "discount", still £200 overpriced IMHO as you may buy them and find they're all scrap and therefore only worth £5-10 each weighing them in.
... I noticed that eBay offer of only £220 for the Virgo wheels has expired - shucks... I missed it!

:-)

Continuing on over-priced cars, this one failed to attract any bids at a £1900 starting price:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Volvo-240....m46890.l49292

... it is an unfinished project with accident damage that is a very long way from getting a MoT. In which world could that possibly be worth nearly two grand?

What a world we live in.

<hums tune from The Twilight Zone>

I think it must be an alien auction Alan, that pricing is out of this world!

On another note, you could have a look at this that happens to have an AW70/71 in it :

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1988-Volv...n/324395687952

Just a thought of course as i know you more than likely have a good one lined up.
