Default New XC60 owner with a few questions

Evening all,

Just picked up a 2013 (13) Volvo XC60 D5 Auto with 106k, lovely car, drives really nicely.

Have a few questions to pick all of your brains with:

1. Cambelt interval - Can't find any concrete info anywhere, most places say different things - I understand it also needs an AUX belt at this time too? Some places say 10 years/144k, others say 6 years/108k?

2. Steering issue - I've had the car a week or so, in the main I have no issues, however on two occasions I have noticed the steering going really heavy when turning left, once was reversing into a space, the other was coming out of a junction. The PAS fluid is slightly above the minimum mark, so will of course top that up, however if that was the cause I would've imagined that would be all the time?

Cambelt is 108k (i.e. the sixth scheduled service based on 18k intervals) so it's due...

Thanks for confirming that, much appreciated. Am I right in thinking the Aux belt and tensioners will also be due? Makes sense to get them done anyway I suppose? Is there a rough price it normally costs, of course main dealer/independent garage dependant.

The AUX belt and tensioners I think are due every 54k (so also due at 108k) - I would say it's just as important that they get done as the most common cause of early death on D5 engines is the AUX belt going and then fouling the cambelt. It was less of and issue on the later twin turbo engines but still an issue...

Just booked my XC60 into local independent for timing chain, aux belt and pulleys plus new water pump. Parts and labour under £270.

Consensus on here is that the Genuine Volvo water pump is bullet proof so does not need changing.

If you do change it make sure that it is replaced by a genuine one or you will be doing it again with an aftermarket one when it starts to leak.

That sounds really good value to me.

Thanks for all the input, much appreciated. Looks like that'll be my first point of call once Xmas & new year is out of the way.
