Default Pre end of warranty check - dealer or indie ?

My 2004 XC70 will hit its third birthday and 60k miles at about the same time in a couple of weeks.

First service was main dealer, second was an indie, both too far away to use again.

I'm inclined to use an indie (if I can find a good one, I'm in south Worcs) on the basis they are better value and if they find a problem should be happy to point it out so main dealer can fix.

On the other hand, a main dealer (would likely by Johnsons in Glos or Worcs) should know the issues and I assume Volvo would pay so there would be no reason for them not to do the warranty work ? So maybe it's better to put my hand in my pocket and go that route ?

Aren't you missing a service ? There should be 3 before 60k on 18k intervals.

I have been told by a Volvo dealer the end of warranty check takes just over an hour.
I'm having mine done at Volvo for convenience, if there is something minor then they may be able to fix there and then saving a second trip.

Yes, it did a lot of miles in a short time so it half missed one. It was serviced on it's first birthday in November 05 at 16K miles and then in August 06 at 44K miles. That mileage was driving the length of the M4 almost every day.

I wouldn't have stretched it that far but I doubt it did much harm (no evidence of problems) and I did use it to negotiate the price earlier this year when I bought it.

I've not been able to find a local indie but have heard good things of the main dealer Johnsons in Gloucester so will probably go there.
