Default Rear screen headphone help please

I wonder if any of you with the rear entertainment system can help out with letting me know which headphones Volvo use as standard.

I have bought a pair of new genuine XC90 headrests with built in screens that I will shortly be installing into my V70 along with kenwood head unit, nav system etc, and I will be needing a pair of headphones for the rear passengers (ie the kids).

It seems that the screens have an IR sender built in which I guess must be for the headphones, so in theory all I need is a set of Volvo headphones and it should all work.

So if anyone could let me know what Volvo use as standard, or indeed if there are any known aftermarket units that work better than the Volvo ones and are cheaper and work ok with the headrest IR, i'd be most grateful.

Martin

One link to many that are on eBay:-

Not sure what frequency Volvo use, but it may be mentioned with the equipment that you have bought. Again the seller may be able to help.

Hi Martin,

I have a 53 XC90 and it came with the DVD changer. Headrest screens were replaced recently and don't know whether there is an IR port or not. However headphones in the XC90 are wireless and not IR and operates on 863MHz. The make is thompson but you will need a wireless transmitter to connect to your DVD source.

Don't know if this help you ....

I bought some extra Thompson Headphones (wanted 4 altogether) 863mhz but the kids havn't been able to get them working yet with the Volvo DVD player. Volvo supply Panasonic headphones now at £55 a set. Still 863mhz though.

Does anyone knows if an additional set of 2 screens (to be watched from the 3rd row seat) can be connected and how ?

Cheers
Chris
