Default Fault code ECM-2A10

The error code above is exhaust gas temperature sensor too high. The fault had triggered an engine service message and limp mode.
I resolved this by replacing the temperature sensor. I looked up part number on vida 31370463 and ordered OEN replacement from eurocar parts for £81. (Volvo wanted £108) I Picked up the part and headed home to remove original. Upon removal (5mins with 17mm spanner) it seemed shorter than replacement and upon review had a different part number from expected one 30729468. I called eurocar parts, they were very helpful and confirmed I needed a different sensor. Next day I picked up a walker sensor 802-20085 for £62. It was also a different length so I triple checked online for compatability and what I had was listed as replacement for the part removed 30729468 Once fitted error message was resolved.
I had driven the car while waiting for parts, it prevented the dpf from regenerating and the soot full message popped up. I read 30g soot so I completed a forced regen which cleared the dpf and soot full message. Both issues erased from diagnosis and car is running well, actually looks like its running with improved miles per gallon, fingers crossed.

I guess morale of this straight foward repair is dont presume parts removed from your car are as listed. Bonus the 2nd part was cheaper, its nearly always more expensive lol! Glad I hadn't burst packaging on wrong part

When this happened to me (sensor failure) I just used Volvo to get the replacement part. My local dealer did charge me less than your quote as I paid slightly less including a touch up pen. It was a very simple swap and clear the codes and go. Admittedly I didn’t use the car once I had completed my original journey so had no problems also the dealer got the sensor in the next day.
