Question Springs to go with Bilstein B4s

I have a leaking front shock so I thought this would be the ideal opportunity to finally refresh the car's suspension. I'm going to be getting B4s all round and the best price I've found for the set is on Parts4VolvoOnline at approx £200 for the set (unless anyone knows better?.

The shocks are an obvious choice for me but what do people think about springs? I don't want the lower the car just want quality springs to renew on the car. Ones on Parts4Volvo cost about another £200 are they any good?

Thanks.

I'd go with the Volvo Springs using your car's reg to order from a dealer.

These cars came with a choice of comfort level when the first owner placed the order, the springs are matched and marked with coloured stripes to indicate which type of spring is fitted.

To my mind you'd have to go for coilovers if you want a matched performance set on the car but it sounds like you want to keep things fairly normal.

When I fitted my B4's the front end height rose slightly (maybe 5-8mm) which I was happy about as it made the car look factory-fresh. It also showed me how knackered the standard dampers were before replacement.

The B4's make the car feel great, slightly 'stiffer' ride but in a good way and really planted at speed.

Thanks for that. Yeah I don't want a lowered or stiff experience. I want the car to be comfortable. I'm pretty sure all the shocks and springs are original having done about 147k miles so hopefully I'll see a big improvement.

I can endorse the B4 upgrade, worth every penny.

I also did the top mounts (SKF), bump stops, protective sleeves and drop links (Meyle).

Seemed rude not to when everything was dismantled and easy to access..

Worth every penny..

I did the springs a few years ago.. The volvo guy I used sourced them at the time.. I believe they were Volvo ones.

End result is an ideal comprimise..

Nice, I already put new heavy duty drop links on last year. I was just waiting on an excuse to do the full suspension renewal.

Hi,
I've not been on the forum ,since I sold my 05 S40 a few years ago, and came back on, to see if anyone wanted a pair of new rear springs (Lesjofords, from parts for Volvo) and I've also a single shock cover and bump stop for the front.
Says you're in Glasgow?
I'm in Airdrie, if you're interested.

Ah! Unfortunately I've already ordered all 4 springs and they're arriving tomorrow. I'd of been interested in the bump stop and gaiter if they were cheap and a pair though

Sorry I've been meaning to post them on here for a while....😬
Don't want anything for them, just out of my way! I've tripped over them, or they've rolled off the shelf and hit me one to many times...

I'll do a separate post on the main page.

In that case I could pick the gaiter and bump stop off you in a couple of weekend's time if you're around? I'm down south helping my Mum out atm though.

No bother, give me a shout when you're back up the road.
