Their strong to be sure. Holding bundles of cable together is static settings is their mission.
I agree that they'd only be able to buy you a few moments.

And stuart, since you're a confessed canoe builder I suggest you visit the Adirondack Museum in Blue Mountain Lake, NY as they have a delicious collection of boats and canoes. If you want something bigger may I suggest the sidewheeler Ticonderoga-one of many highlights at the Shelburne Museum in Vermont.

Yeah I think we're way over thinking a little throw away comment I made specifically about cheap roof bars (which I don't have) basically that I would be worried about them coming off the roof and would want to add something to add a bit of extra safety

Add some gaffa tape as well if you like .. the indestructible duo

Clearly for any actual structural fixings I wouldn't use anything less than a real metal bolt and bracket

I feel like I have to clarify now: I'm not using cable ties to attach things to my roof and I don't advise any one else does either

Boats though yeah I love em I used to play canoe polo and do sailing races and all sorts, I want my kids to get into it as well

I think realistically the best I can hope for now in terms of build time and storage space is remote control .. been thinking of a model of bluebird for a while now but rc jet engines are a bit pricey
