Default Break calliper retainer

Hi, I have a xc70 d5 2007, the back brakes have just had pads on. The inner section of the disc has started to have a ring of rust on the contact area. I've noticed that the caliper retaining clip has lost its tension. Will replacing this spring sort out the pad and disc contact? Can I order a universal retainer as I don't know if they are the original calipers or not. Thanks. The video shows it better than I can write it!

If they're not the original calipers they'll be made from returned cores...in other words, rebuilt originals.

When you buy the retaining / anti-rattle springs you may find they're a tad dear. I feel they're overpriced but I'm a pinch penny.

Check the condition of your glide pins. A 7mm hex (Allen) runs 'em out easily. Make sure they're clean and well greased. The rusted part close to the hub (not the ridge of rust at the outer edge of all rotors) makes me think this. If the pins are rusted badly buy new ones.

Before you pick up a tool, reach behind each caliper and feel the hard plastic boots and their caps. Each pin has a boot & removable cap so you can get the hex bit in. They can take a beating....8 boots, each with a little flat cap.
When I got my '07 two boots were chewed down and three caps were missing. At least those are reasonably priced.
