Well I have on hand Nylon, Acetal/Delrin, PEEK, PTFE. At work we get a few bar ends occasionally in various strange engineering plastics such as TecaPEEK PVX (PEEK with 10% of each of the following: PTFE, Graphite and carbon fibre) and a few others in smaller diameters that I can’t remember what they are called but have high wear and heat resistance. One is a grey plastic with graphite that’s quite interesting. I’ll try and find out at work next week as only one guy runs the smaller parts on our CNC turning side and he will know all about it.

The grey plastic with graphite in sounds like a form of Nylatron, i used to know the name of it but can't think just now.
There's a couple of new ones there for me viz PEEK and the derivatives of it. Delrin would work well but wouldn't be flexible enough for my idea of slitting it but maybe PTFE would do the job, failing that nylon.

Edit - i have some Nylatron in the shed i was going to have a go with, there's also another that comes to mind, generally a sort of pale lime green colour that is a very good insulator, hard wearing but slippery but again my brain cell won't recall the name of it.
