Oil filter removal tool
Wondering what other members use to remove the oil filter on the 850. If you are using genuine filters they are completely cylindrical with no flat spots to allow a tool to grab them. The space between the filter and the sump is tight limiting access with chain removal tools and with the subframe in the way there is also limited access with rubber removal tools

I have one very similar to this
grips well enough without ripping the canister apart, I try to use it near the bottom of the filter to prevent crushing the sides.

Hi,
Isn't it funny how 'hand tight' on never seems to equal 'hand tght' off! I've done this with 2 tools. 1. Traditional chain. 2. Fabric strap version of the chain tool. The fabric one was much easier to use and gripped well. It was also much easier to get it in place. The chain version also worked well but needed a lot more jiggling to get it to lock in the correct orientation to be useable. The fabric version was of this variety: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/194355091...3c7c16fb5cb91b It's a clever design that you could probably replicate with a fabric belt and a screwdriver. BR, Rich. |

I use the band type- metal belt with a screw down facility for tightening:~
Used on a 240 & V70 but it is a bit inch by inch motion because of room and angles- but it does the trick. Quite often I use a rough sand paper under the belt (working sides out) to aid the grip- paper is also useful for a better grip if doing by hand. Bob. |

I use the a 3-pronged grab tool that goes on the end of the filter like this one:
https://www.powertoolsdirect.com/cla...-filter-wrench Takes a 3/8" drive, I use an extension too. Never fails whatever the shape of the filter, never punctures the filter body, makes the job super easy.

As previously mentioned:~
I use the band type-ok but are restrictive for a 240/V70/Ford fiesta- particularly if the filter is tight. I intend going for the 3 legged grab tool as the access angles are all correct for the above cars. Bob. |

Never once let me down on 7/900s not too sure if you will be able to get them on that filter properly though. |
