A car breaker here in France has the gearbox from a relatively low mileage Volvo 940 2.4TD 110hp (date unknown). My car, which is looking for a replacement gearbox is 940 2.4TIC 122hp (late 1994).

Are the gearboxes be interchangeable?
Is there are reference where I can look up the gearbox details myself?

Just a case of checking if M90 or M46. The M90 is 5 speed with reverse to teh right and down. M46 is 4speed +OD with reverse fully left and up.

If it is an M90 it will be a direct swap.
If M46 you will need the gear lever and prop. You will also need to use a M46 clutch
