Default V50 blower heater resistor

Hi all, iv just purchased a 2009 v50 2.0d auto. I'm having a few issues to do with the cabin heater blower motor running fast constant also after iv locked the car and have the keys in my hand. The only way to stop this is to remove the 40a fuse in the engine compartment. I'm wondering if it could be a faulty blower motor resistor (iv looked behind the glovebox but can't find it) or wether it's down to a faulty car battery as the car was standing since November and completely flat when I tried to start it and don't seem to hold charge overnight when fully charged but the previous owner said the battery is only about a year old. He also said he never had this issue previous. The only reason he sold it to me was because the timing belt had snapped. Any help would be great. Thankyou, lee

There is no blower resistor on these cars. The blower motor is a brushless DC motor with an integrated power control board built into the motor. The motor gets a permanent 12v power feed and is controlled by a PWM signal from the CEM. It also has a tacho signal that feeds back to the CEM.

If the motor is running all the time, then it could be a fault with the PWM signal from the CEM, a short circuit in the connection from the CEM to the blower motor, or a faulty motor.

Replacing the motor itself is a big job, so it's one of those faults where it's really worth spending time on the diagnosis before jumping in and replacing parts.

Pinballdave thankyou very much for the info. No wonder I couldn't find the resistor then lol.
Is there anything I could do to test the signal or possibly repair it?
I'm not very clued up on electrics so I wouldn't really know where to start or diagnose the problem.
Cheers, lee

First thing you can do by yourself to replace the blower motor, is under the dashboard, take a look at the tutorials.
