Hahaha

I was trying to make sure the summer street parties are as representative of British culture as possible - will get the sofa on the front lawn next week

As far as I know they should be straight as they fit both sides. Its been a while since I did mine.
Good luck with the rest of the bushes.

God this is a hard job

Finally got all the drivers side rear suspension off (inc damper as for £20 each I’ll replace while everything is off!

However getting the bushes out is a thankless and never ending task

It’s taking hours and still not got all the remaining adhesive / rubber out

A smell I will never get from my nostrils

Need to attack the rear axle bushes in situ next

JJ

That is quite a demanding job, well done.

I wonder, did it need doing (was there a problem) or was this a general improvement?

Knocking from the left hand side but seeing as I was going to lower the car - thought I should

The bushes are defo at the end of their life

V v slow going

Got the 2 upper rear arms sorted

Cleaned out and ready to accept bushes

And here we go…

and the lower arm I’m almost there

The rear axle might actually kill me

Well done.

So, how long has this job taken? I'm wondering whether it would have been more effective to acquire a bearing press in the first place, which might have made removing the old bushes much easier. The difference in cost between rubber and polyurethane bushes may well have paid for the press (I think mine was about £80). I'm in no way decrying your plan or work (which is very good).

In my research, I found that the oem rubbers can fail v quickly anyway

Also a rear trailing arm is only £30 so prob could have bought all the parts with the rubbers in for the price of the poly bushes

Who knows if this will ever be worth it but it’s nothing money in the grand scheme of things to help my 12yr old be a little bit less “YouTube”

There is no need to be defensive JJ, I’m not questioning your plan or execution - that is up to you. I was wondering how long this has taken, which might be useful information to folk considering using either rubber or polyethylene bushes, or replacing the arms completely to do the same job.
