Battery problems
Hi I have a 03 volvo s60 D5. It is know 19 years old I have had her for 18 years. 2 years ago the original battery gave up, had new battery fitted. 6 weeks ago I had to have new alternator fitted when the pulley clutch seized up
How ever the battery ran flat today after a few short journeys I wondered if the starter motor is drawing to much current and flattening the battery. Has any one got any ideas. Please

My 04 S60 started to suffer from battery problems, the first thing to check is the alarm siren, when was it last changed? I have never looked at mine in over 10 years, and sure as eggs are eggs that was my problem. Since pulling the fuse the battery never goes flat, which is just as well now she is in semi retirement!!

If it's going flat shortly after driving then I would suspect the new alternator or associated circuitry. You haven't given info though about the time and pattern.
It isn't unusual for a newish battery to go bad - had it happen to a Volvo OEM one after about 2 years. |

swap for a known good battery if that goes flat check alternator output and remove alarm fuse a good multi meter is a good investment for this kind of problem also check light switch position also check for sticking brake light switch.

Is the battery actually discharged or is it the starter toiling to crank the engine?
Maybe the engine earth strap is poor?
