XC90 Hybrid Pure mode
My 2016 XC90 Hybrid has started switching from pure to petrol on a whim. When I reverse off my drive and switch to drive, often there is no power and it switches to petrol, it will continue in petrol for a minute or so the then switch back to pure.
It has also started to switch when I am at traffic lights for example, I realise that if I ask for more from the engine it will switch, but it has started doing so for no reason. Any thoughts? |

Only thing that comes to mind....do you precondition the car before getting in it? If not, and you have the A/C on from the moment you start, that could cause the car to switch to petrol in order to provide enough power for the A/C to function.
This kind of ties in with it triggering again when you stop at traffic lights. |

Fair point, I think I read OPs post differently first time round.
Simmo, when you say there is no power, do you mean you can push the accelerator and see the needle move up the power band on the dash but the car doesn't move until the needle moves up to the engine (oil drop) side. If it's happening at traffic lights in the same way i.e. stopped at the lights on electric power, accelerate away but no movement until the needle goes past the oil drop - then both of those sound like possible ERAD failure. Does it ever pull away on electric for a second then cut out until you push the accelerator past the oil drop? That was the case with mine, definite ERAD failure. |
