Engine - B5204T5 / Auxiliary Drive Belt Query
Hi Everyone
Currently doing some much needed servicing on my 2004 S60 2.0T SE, and want to replace the auxiliary drive belt. Upon searching for the belt I have noticed there are two different lengths of belt, and could do with some advice on which length belt I need. The lengths available are 1838mm and 1825mm. Can anyone tell me which belt I need, or help me identify which one is correct fitment for my S60? The car has AC if that is of any use. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. |

I always find the German SKANDIX pages useful to find part numbers and information. Look at https://www.skandix.de/en/spare-part...bbed-belt/867/
It looks like the belt size depends on your chassis number If you put your VIN into the vehicle information it may/should pin down which one you need. I wouldn't recommend buying from them unless you are ordering a lot - the postal charges to the UK are a bit off-putting! |

I put my chassis number in and guess what, two different length belts again. SKANDIX are saying 1838mm and 1841mm belts I'm edging more towards the 1838mm belt, as this is the one that pops up on every search. Could just buy it and try, and return if it doesn't fit. Either that or just remove then one installed and use a piece of string to measure it, only way to be sure. |

I'm going to contact Volvo first, see if they can shed some light on this. Cheers for the comment Stuart |

I should have mentioned - SKANDIX tell you which one is a genuine volvo part - for your car it looks like the belt should be the 1841mm one.
Where they give an aftermarket compatible alternative it will show the same Volvo part number but the size will be the nearest fit from the non OEM manufacturers range - hence the 3mm difference. Check with Volvo by all means before you buy one but I'd be tempted to go for the longer length - the 3mm could be the difference between a sometimes fiddly job and a total PITA! |

Welcome - this might be a 'suck eggs' comment but if this is the first time you have changed the aux belt I'd strongly advise you take a photo or draw a plan of the exact route the belt takes around all the pulleys. Without something to refer to its all too easy to forget if the belt goes over or under a pulley - the difference on some models may be just a few mm so it can look both reasonable and 'do-able' - but you will only realise your mistake when the new belt will not fit!
