Default '05 V70 Geartronic - Clunk when coming to a stop

Hi all.

Two years in to the £1k '05 V70 2.5T experiment and it's been pretty much plain sailing. Used more or less every day and apart from oil changes I've had to do very little to it. Now at 156k miles there's a noticeable clunk from what I think is the auto box when slowing down to a stop. The shift from a higher gear into first if you like. Shifts when driving or when moving from eg P to D are fine for a car of this age, mileage and condition I'd say.

Prior to my ownership I don't think the car had led a pampered life so I've accepted that something pretty major would come along at some point but can anyone give me any idea what the problem could be? With "the gearbox is knackered" at one end of the scale and "it'll be fine, just do this" at the other I suppose

Something to note, I did do a few drain and fills of the ATF not long after purchase so shouldn't really need doing again.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Have a look at the transmission torque mount , maybe worn

Thanks amazighman.

If worn, would that cause the clunk when coming to a stop? Googling seems to suggest a worn mount might cause hard shifting on the move and through the gears but I could be looking in the wrong place.

Does it clunk/knock when going from D to reverse?
Could be autobox, gearbox mount or driveshaft cv joint

You know, I've driven this car nearly every day since we got it and I've still had to go outside to check!

There's a slight knock when going from D to R. Specifically from N to R. But in all honesty, apart from the clonk I originally described I think the gearbox behaves just as I'd expect for a 17 year old, 156k mile car that has obviously led a hard life.

Change the transmission fluid and check the transmission torque mount is in good condition.

Just to follow up on this, I changed the torque mount and the upper engine mount at the weekend. Both were absolutely knackered. Definite improvement so thank you to all involved.
