Default Xc60 new battery

Hi all
Just come to start my 2014 volvo xc60 d4 181.. it turned over slowly for about 1 second then stopped cranking, so I assume it needs a new battery. It looks like the original battery.
Any recommendations?
How does the battery come out?
It's not a start stop.
Thx.

Volvo are supposed to be extremely competitive when it comes to battery prices. If in doubt, get the correct battery from your local dealer, no danger of a wrong size.

If you can lay hands to a smart charger like the Ctek ones that have desulpher functionality you may be able to jog it back into life.

Battery charge issues are endemic with this generation of the V60/ S60. Mine on it's 3rd battery; Volvo ( changed under warranty), Volvo and Bosch. A reputedly very clever ( = very, very stupid indeed in my opinion ) charging regime. I keep mine on a constant trickle charge when not driving it. The CTEK charger inevitably finds the battery undercharged when I connect it, even after a 100 mile journey.

The second Volvo battery holds full charge for months on it's own !

I could never leave the car at an airport for even a one week holiday, the battery would be dead when I came back.

Compare to the 2006 Ford Mondeo ST220 I had; still on the original battery after 9 years, never an issue !

Quality?

I had my 2011 battery changed in February after 141000 miles. I only changed it because it was starting to have problems keeping a charge.

Whilst one member has clearly had issues, we don’t hear too many stories on here about flat batteries, the main issue is the Volvo originals last so long that some owners take them for granted and think they’re going to last the life on the car, and one day get stranded.

If you use your car regularly and it’s gone flat, it’s probably fekked, it is 8 years old. Try your local dealer but if they’re too expensive go to Tayna batteries on the web. Easy to swap it and no programming needed. Disconnect the negative terminal first, that way it won’t hurt if you catch your spanner on metalwork when undoing the positive connection.
