Sounds like you got extremely lucky there! Fair dos

I think if it were me I'd still send the original one off for repair to maintain mileage and then either keep the 'new' one as a spare or pop it back on ebay

The service from volvodiagnostics.com is fantastic; I sent my dash off and less than 48 hours later it was back. That was nearly a year ago and it is still working perfectly with the correct mileage.

I bought a second hand cluster with all the same part numbers and fitted it in 10 min , Everything is working fine the only thing is the mileage but i am sure i can sort that out with the DVLA

And the need a service light is on lol apart from that no other problems only done 6 miles to try it but that should be fine i would have thought

1) I'd love to know how one can "sort out" mileage readings. People have reported that VIDAs get confused when the cluster's mileage and the ECM's mileage differ. Please, report how you make out.

2) Can you not turn the "service engine soon" light off?

3) How much was your replacement cluster? How much would a repair have been?

I paid £65 for the repair and postage each way was £11, so total outlay was £87. Postage could have been less but it went first class, for a quick turn round.

1) i think he just meant reporting it to the DVLA so it's not illegal or 'clocked' (surely only really an issue if the new one reads under)

interesting to know about the VIDA issues as I'd not heard that one before

and

2) yes it's really easy https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=28858

The original mileage is stored elsewhere in the car too so can be read by the dealer and there will always be a Mileage mismatch code stored which will make things very suspicious to other people . , If you put a display in which reads a lower mileage it will be fraud if you sell it like that or the MOT sees it..
