Had my 2013 , 215bhp XC70 in to the garage for a service yesterday and they recommended it needs new front discs and pads (there is a fair lip on the disc) . I have looked on Eurocar parts and see there are several brands , what do member's recommend , or stick with genuine discs - earing in mind the cars getting on a bit and is 100k mileage now ? I know it's safety but do I really need to pay dealer prices ?? I can fit them myself so its just the cost of the parts

Check out Volvo Parts Trade on Ebay ( used to be Mill now Stoneacre ) as they are quite good for genuine.
Also worth emailing FRF as VOC members get a good discount if you quote code C3

Volvo still make their own discs for the larger XC models, you can always tell a car where genuine Volvo discs and pads are fitted as the brake pedal feel is much better and more sensitive, and the discs wear with a mirror like finish, not rough like the pads are covered in coarse sandpaper.

The cost of good discs is small compared to fuel costs today. I bought mine from Volvo, but fitted them myself.

I have bought genuine Volvo pads and discs this way at very competitive prices and it turned out to be Mill Volvo Newcastle.
