V70 D5 twin turbo intercooler hose
Howdy,
I recently had to replace the lower intercooler hose, all done and ran fine until two days ago when it popped off. I have taken the old jubilee clip off and replaced as it was goosed, just been for a drive and it popped off again. Anyone experienced this? Even once back on the EML and Engine System Service Required wouldn't reset. Tia |

Yes Calum, sort of. I have a 2009 V70. My son has an XC70 2005 D5 and the air-to-air heat exchanger, which the lower hose goes onto from the turbocharger, was badly bowed and leaking air so we replaced it. We also fitted a new plain lower hose. We removed the old hose and box arrangement and, after fitting the new hose with new clips, it also popped off after a few miles, so we re-fitted it. Access to the hose clips is not easy and after several attempts and damaged fingers, we were able to get the extra turns on the hose clip needed to secure it. It's now been on there for several months and we have full power from the engine with no issues. The engine warnings have now gone and Vida is now also clear.
My suggestion is to thoroughly check the intercooler. We took ours off and when filled with water, leaked all over the place which is why we replaced it. The hard plastic/metal spigots that the hose is secured to both ends needs to be really clean and oil free to ensure the hose can't slide off. Good luck! |

I forget the name of the type of clips, but they're designed for high power applications. Double the size of the jubilees. And are done up using 10mm bolts not 7mm strippable threads.
Might be mikalor or T clamps. I've used them on the Cummins, I tried a jubilee clip as a get me home, but 45psi boost just destroys jubs. |
