Diesel injectors IMA to cylinder
I was wondering, seeing that the diesel injectors are coded IMA, and it shows up as
1-IMA x....... 2-IMA x....... 3-IMA x....... 4-IMA x....... 5-IMA x....... Would no 1 be corresponding to cylinder 1 etc? So if I took them out, they need to be placed back to the cylinder they where removed from? I cleaned mine, while replacing the copper seals, and was interrupted and mixed some up, all except no 3 Just had a look on the coding I have on file, and no 1 is on Cyl 2, 2 is on Cyl 5, 4 is on Cyl 1 and 5 on Cyl 4..... I think I need to move them to their right spot. Been googling and getting some things here and there:
In theory, your cylinders will not be firing as efficiently as they could. Many electronic injectors have calibration codes that tell you ECU how that particular injector flows, so that the ecu can change the pulse width to ensure the exact amount of fuel needed. By changing the injectors around, the ecu is now running the wrong calibration code for the injector on a particular cylinder, which means the engine will not run as efficient since some injectors will now be injecting more or less fuel than required. |

You are correct the coding needs to match the cylinder. If you have the ability to code them then you can just code them to their current position now instead of having to take them back out.

So for anybody wondering, make sure your injectors match their cylinders coded. My car has much better throttle responce, injectors are not so noisy now and WOW fuel consumption is way better. |
