To be honest the to-do list on the car is long enough that I just want to get the b***** scuttle panel back in place and move on... I suppose at least servicing the wiper mechanism would mean I haven't totally wasted my time removing it.
Whilst you have access just ensure that all moveable joints are lubricated and that cable is intact and lubricated. It should only take a few minutes.

Panel refitted. Wasn't too bad with a clear head after a decent night's sleep. Trick to getting the clips aligned was to pull it as far forward as possible, then work from one corner (rhs) then get the tricky middle one under, then finally push the left hand trim under.

Bonnet shuts now and I have windscreen wipers. That's good. Was able to take it for a drive, put some petrol in, and get it warm enough that it's now almost completely dry. The heater is brilliant.

Thanks for the help so far. Fingers crossed but I'll update with progress.

Wasn't quite sure how tight to go on the wiper arm nuts. Splines seemed a bit fragile/crappy (especially in the context of the way the car is built in general). So I went for "not too tight" but last thing I want is them slipping and chewing up the splines...Will keep an eye on them I suppose and check they don't loosen up.

I think by now it's time to treat myself to a Haynes manual.

If you have the carpet out a useful trick to spot the leak it to dust ordinary talc powder everywhere over the metalwork. When it rains you should see a trace of where the water runs.

You may well find it a little awkward to remove the ecu as there may well be one of those stupid security screws/bolts holding it to the cradle.

Any trick to getting the black plastic bung behind the ECU out?

Scared to break it!

Default Water leak hunting

Hi guys,

Through the posts above I managed to fine the bung behind the ECU, was certainly leaking!

But I seem to have a leak coming from directly above the accelerator pedal, any hints on where to look next?

1994 940 estate, non sun roof, skuttle panel mesh still in tact but haven’t ventured to take it off yet!

Thanks for any advice!

Mine definitely has a middle bolt.

It's funny several people recently having this issue, because in Spain we haven't had rain in do long that when people say they have an infiltration rain water doesn't even come to my mind. UK weather is messed up.
