Default B18B engined B16 PV544

Now that I am nearing completion of my 544 renovation I have come across quite a few issues regarding fitting a twin carburettor B18 engine and M40 gearbox into an early 544 that had a B16 engine with 3 speed gearbox. Most of these problems have been overcome except for the twin SU’s pancake front air filter catching the B16 544 cross brace when trying to close the bonnet. I was wondering if anyone else has overcome this issue? It would be nice to retain the nice original Volvo air filter to carburettor aluminium casting even if an adapter plate was required to reposition it. Thank you.

Is it possible to move the hole in the filter backplate, I have done this before by making an alloy back plate same diameter as the filter and re drill the hole for the carbs
Or get hold of a set of 30 degree elbows to change the angle if you look on eBay there are lots available as it was common on BL cars
