Does anyone have a good spare steering column in their spares that they could take a few pictures of? I deformed up the end of the column a bit attempted to remove the steering wheel with a homemade puller a while back and was unable to refasten the steering wheel nut afterward
![]() Have kept my eyes peeled for a second-hand one that could be swapped in and have been using as is in the interim (yes, I know. it's really on there). Scanning ebay today, saw a steering column for an 1800 that almost appears to have a removable top section though I suspect was simply for holding a collar in place - ![]() Anyway - thoughts appreciated. Alternately, f someone knows or could measure the proper thread-pitch for the steering column end, I could probably find the appropriate die to recut the threads. |

1800 has a different spline to the Amazon.
If you can get another new nut (get 2) you can cut a slot in it, perhaps use 2 blades together in the hacksaw, and then clamp the nut round the threaded section. you can then use it to refinish the threads. A worm drive clamp can be used to gradually increase the squeeze. |
