Default Battery change

Hi All

Does anyone know if I can change my starter battery on my 2018 XC60 without having to use an aux power supply to keep the radio code or things like that?

Many thanks

Ok mate thanks

With all the electronics on cars today you never know if you will disturb some settings plus Volvo recommend you get it changed at a dealership but they don’t say this with the earlier model.

Your car has two batteries anyway. The main battery is under the boot floor and the auxiliary (auto stop/start) battery is under the bonnet.

I assume if you remove either one the other would allow the car to retain any settings.

The battery hasn't been responsible for retaining settings for many years , they are stored in non volatile memory chips same as your phone and computer...no problem

5 years feels quite soon for a battery change was there an technical issue with it or just used its allocation of car starts?!

My stop start isn’t working and the only weak point I can find is the starter battery and the dealer I bought it from has agreed to pay for a new battery

You need to change the main battery in the boot, not the support battery under the bonnet
