Default Is this noise the alternator ?

Hi everyone,
Just need some adviced please,

Volvo V70 2011 model D3 Diesel 2.0 Auto

This occurs on starting up and turning steering to a lock, seems to vanish until either stopping and turning to a lock side as in driving into like a parking space.
Or if turning wheels to a lock side
Not present all the time but I am uncertain if this is the Alternator

I was unable to sort how to add a video on this site so someone has uploaded
it for you to view.

https://youtube.com/shorts/bUIS2nsofGY?

Thank you in advance for reading and replying.

Default Alternator

Hi I had very much the same
It could be the free wheeling clutch
Someone advised me to remove the alternator belt and check the clutch
You can replace the clutch with an INA about £30
I am sure there is someone on here with more experience than myself
Good luck

Sounds more like the power steering making the noise.
My alternator free-wheel seized. The noise produced by that was more a loud jittering sound. The belt was vibrating like the wings of a small bird with the engine idling.

Thx for getting back in touch, Reservoir level is fine with no bubbles inside, I do a check on all levels every week.

Noise as you say is on start up and turning tight, so trying to keep a wide turning circle and it is not happening.

Can I ask you, Should I consider starting with fitting replacement P/S Relief Valve, fit a new pulley if that's possible or just fit a replacement P/S Pump.

Thanks for reading and replying in advance.

P.S

Er, just saw PAS cost so maybe try the first two things?

I would get the opinion of a professional who is familiar with them and get them to listen to it in person.

Thank You Rammer for your time and input, Yes you were correct.

After trying a number of ideas and booking in a Volvo Dealer, I just used a long thin screwdriver to feel where the vibration was coming from when the engine was running which was through the alternator body, changed the whole unit in case that throws it's hand in and would need to pay for another which would make the new pulley a waste of money.

Default Alternator

So pleased you found the problem
had the same issue the free wheeling clutch was seizing and stripped the belt
It also caused a problem in as much the alternator caused the steering pump not to function
Changed the alternator and belt car drives like new
So pleased you got it sorted

Is that a little puff of smoke or dust coming up at about 4.5 seconds in the video?
