Autoglass could only get a genuine Volvo one and stuck that in. I have a feeling they struggle if the screen has any electronic gadgetry built in to get non OEM. It was done a year ago and I haven't had any problems with their fitting other than the mirror cowl falling off because it was not clipped back properly. |

I wouldn't ever use Autoglass again .................
I had a new screen 2 years ago on my V70 and the autoglass fitter damaged the A pillar interior trim with the cheese cutter, failed to refit the wipers correctly, failed to refit the under bonnet trim correctly, and the rain sensor on the new screen didn't work. auto glass offered to fix it, but I told them they had done enough damage already ! .............. I pressured them to take it the a Volvo main dealer and they picked up the bill ...... a new Volvo screen, new A pillar trim, and new battery cover. |

Just had mine done by a place called auto windscreens. They did everything correctly and now the car has a genuine heated Volvo windscreen fitted to it. The windscreen that came out was not a genuine Volvo part so I assumed it had a replacement in previous ownership.
Old one is from AGC Automotive(no Volvo brand anywhere) Volvo quality is superior as the new one doesn’t have this weird effect when you look at the bottom edge the road would look distorted or like it’s melting. Now it’s perfect from edge to edge. £60 excess not too bad considering they told me it’s around £1500 if not insured. |

£1,500 for a genuine replacement windscreen by Volvo or by Auto Windscreens? That sounds really expensive. Has anybody out there had a recent(ish) quote from Volvo dealer for a replacement windscreen at all?

Yep. A couple of months ago. Fortunately my insurance cover lets me get my glass done where I like. Autoglass/Nat Windscreens (insurer's preferred supplier) had a 2-3 week lead time for a booking so I asked my dealer. Done within 10 days. Volvo-supplied screen, dealer uses a local screen guy to fit. Kept the car all day to ensure it was not moved until glue set. Total cost a shade under £1k It was a heated screen with adaptive cruise. They did not have time/roads to calibrate (saving the insurer 30 mins or so of extra labour costs) so I was told to drive for a few miles at 50mph, ideally on a dual carriageway or motorway and it would do it itself. It took about 15 mins on local A roads.
