Default Battery Disconnection

Hi Guys

V70 SE LUX 2.4 Diesel Reg: 2014

If the battery is disconnected for any reason, does anything have to be reprogrammed using a scan tool or whatever or is it just a case of going into
MY CAR settings and putting things right ie the clock etc.

With some cars a code has to be re-entered in order for the radio to work after battery disconnection.

Is there anything else I need to be aware of after disconnecting and re connecting.

Thanks to anyone who can advise

Guys

This is just an additional thought, if the battery is going to be disconnected would it be best to connect a spare battery via the car’s OBD port.

I guess I’m just trying to avoid a trip to my local Volvo agent and shelling out just to get things reprogramed when I could easily avoid it.

I changed my battery over in my 65 plate Volvo XC70 a couple of years ago and had no issues whatsoever. Everything returned to normal when powered back up again.

I had to remove and replace my battery last year - and had to reset the Battery Monitoring Sensor. The result if you don't is a possible risk of s "Low Battery Warning" coming up. Not a major problem, just an inconvenience (to me anyway).

I used Vida to reset/recalibrate the BMS, but there is a "physical" way of resetting if needed (just can't remember what that is off the top of my head currently).

Thanks for your replies guys, I’ve only had the car about a week and trying to find my way around things.

I do try to do my own car repairs where I can and at the moment I’m just looking at a few youtube videos on how service and some repairs are done but I don’t have a workshop manual as yet.

BigGreenThing
you mentioned in your reply you used VIDA, where can I get a copy of this,
ie is it a download or a dvd and what hardware did you use to connect to the car as I feel sure I’m going to need something like that setup for future use.

The car I’ve just sold was a 2000 reg so it did not have anywhere near the bells and whistles this Volvo has, so I managed to get away without having all the programming stuff required on the newer cars.

Hi Clive,

Purchases of Vida can be bought via eBay. Some sellers are cheaper than others. Vida requires quite antiquated PC requirements.

There was a guy on the Forum that offered Vida plus laptops - not sure if he's still doing it. They infrequently come up for sale in the "For Sale" par tof the forum.

Failing that - it's Vida/Laptop and the connection from laptop to the OBD port purchased via eBay/Gumtree. It's either that or seek to buddy up with another local forum member. I did that once or twice before getting hold of my own copy of Vida...

It's been said - other than the auto close window setting - which is very easy - nothing else needed.

Thanks for all your replies Guys

You have put my mind at ease, heavens knows where I must have read about the onboard stuff losing its memory, maybe its on the newer models or even a different car.

I’ve watched a video on the one-shot window resetting and that’s straight forward enough, so thanks again.
