Replaced V70 for a V70 (small upgrade)
So having had my P3 V70 D5 for 5 years (it was a 57 plate) i had to scrap it yesterday. Accident that caused NSF suspension damage, wheel collapsing, wing and passenger door and lower trim damage….it unfortunately went to the local scrap and was picked up today. I managed to remove rubber mats, load cover. Ive done a deal with the scrap man to purchase the rear discs and pads as they were original volvo and only 9 months on the car. Car had passed its MOT less than 9 weeks ago. The positive news i found an 09 plate D5 with 135,000 on the clock and a full service history in SE trim (virtually identical to mine, but a darker shade of metallic grey and has the bonus of electric sunroof and rear parking sensors plus beige leather interior. I got it for £1850, i was the first to view, think the guy felt sorry for me when i told him my story. Anyway pick up the new to me car on Sunday but there are some issues that need addressing. Small amount of rust on one from wing, dent the size of a £5 note on the other front wing, scuffs and scratches that i can sort. Some light knocking from the suspension, think its passenger front and finally the boot doesnt stay open, it drops back from full height (how easy or not is the boot problem).
Positives were the price, but its only got a months MOT, last owner 5 years, and owned by his father from 4 years old. Cambelt done at 100k 5 years ago, aux belt and tensioner a month ago. Only got £300 scrap for the Volvo so i suppose the “new” car stands me at £1550. Once ive got the issues sorted and the MOT passed i will be happy. Cant get these V70s out of my blood and it was the only replacement i wanted or a P2. |
