Default Autotronics repaired my speedometer

To everyone with the common problem of a 1992 Volvo 940 speedometer that is broken - the only people who I could find to do the job properly were Autotronics. They repaired mine and give a guarantee that lasts the lifetime of the vehicle.

It worked out much better than using a Volvo breakers to try to get hold of an old working one. I tried breakers at first and asked for Volvo 940 ones and got sent 740 ones, or given ones for manual cars which didn't work fully properly with my automatic.

I've been on these forums many years and have no association with Autotronics, but just thought I'd say how good they were.

Have used Autotronics for my daughters Audi tt instrument binnacle when the rev counter & speedo packed up . Good price (about £150) including P&P . Very fast turnaround and a long warranty. I would recommend them .

I'm all for repair and not replace, but for over £300, I could buy 3 working ones on ebay...

Yes. It was £338.40 total. I decided it was better than to keep trying to find working second hand ones until they break after a while. Also I found there were many changes to them and even a 92 manual doesn't work properly in my 92 automatic - for light on the dashboard that signals button on the gearstick to drop down a gear. Also, Autotronics guarantee it for the lifetime of the car, so if it breaks again there is no charge. They did the repair in a matter of days and sent it via courier.

Good point ! If your original 25 year old one has failed it's pretty pointless replacing that with another 25 year plus one.

I see a lot of people on Facebook asking if anyone has a secondhand CPS sensor as their 30 year old one has just failed !!

Why, just why are people so thick sometimes? You can get a new Bosch one for £30, I bet people are selling used ones for close to that.

It never ceases to amaze me !

I'm 99% certain that most people aren't paying a £400 monthly payment on their old 940's etc so why buy a used or cheapo part to save themselves £20?

Ps I think the most recent CPS I bought from Chris at FRF was about £47 with discount ! If that lasts another 25 years like the original, that works out at a whooping 15p per month
