Default media capabilities

hi
so now my v70 is going back due being very very unwell....

im looking again but with eyes a lot wider open this time, but instead of settling i am a man of toys in the car

i understand that se lux and r design have bluetooth capabilities (i could be wrong here also) but are you able to use the bluetooth to stream media from the phone to the car as well or do you need additional gubbins?

ive been contemplating the following

2.4d r design 59 plate (97k)
2.4d se 58 plate (120k)
d5 se rti 09 plate (128k)

as examples, but im not sure what rti is and if its helpful
not that bothered if i have satnav, i have waze on my phone for that.

the mechanic-y bit is being taken care of in terms of (yes buy that, NOT DONT BUY THAT.. from a friend who does the history checks as he will be the one servicing and MOT'ing it)
but inside i am a creature comfort bint!

thanks

d

I have a V70 R-Design D5, it is one of the most comfortable cars I've ever sat in and as for Bluetooth, I have Bluetooth for phone calls only it won't play media, I've run an AUX lead from under the arm rest around to my phone holder (which is attached to the vent, works perfectly well.) Although there is some sort of adaptor I believe you can use to play media via Bluetooth. I love my V70 and will look after it for many years.

We have a 2008MY D5 SE Lux - no bluetooth, no USB, no satnav. I bought a Bluetooth plug-in adapter that plugs into AUX port under the armrest. Connects to phone via bluetooth. It works when I can be bothered to pair it up, like on a longer journey, but we don't do many long journeys these days! Think it cost about a tenner off Amazon.

i actually see a valid point with not having your phone connected in the car in hindsight.

i do miss having DAB though but i understand you need a seperate antenna for it as the stock one doesnt do DAB?

DAB and car play are possible.

Not cheap but all the modern comforts.

went to have a look and it seems a parrot unit has been installed,

ive read the hu850 unit is quite decent so i am tempted to just have a bluetooth adapter round the back of it and swap it for the cd changer.

my worry is if i put an expensive head unit in. scumbags will spot it...

This is a solution

https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=331186

I've hardwired mine in to power and it connects to the Aux-In and to the phone via BT.

A variety of Brodit holders to make it look tidy.

That depends on the audio equipment level and model year. Cars with Sensus (from MY 2012) can have Bluetooth both for phone and media, but it depends on the entertainment system level.

On my 2011 version I can stream songs through the system via the USB port in the centre armrest bin. I have a relatively old iPhone. I can also control the song selection from the steering wheel controls. Not able to stream via Bluetooth, but that doesn’t bother me because I need to charge the phone, so it would need to be plugged in anyway.

DAB+ can be retrofitted to all V70s by Volvo. It isn't cheap though.
