Default Starting issue

Hi All,

I have bought a 2009 XC60 manual D5. FSH mainly VOLVO. 107k miles.
The starting has an occasional problem. I get into the car and the binacle lights up. I insert the fob and the steering lock unlocks. i press the clutch and then press the starter button.
Sometimes it starts and sometimes it doesn't.

Any suggestions please?

Looking at other threads;
Sticking clutch sensor - doesn't activate when the pedal is depressed.
Faulty operating fob mechanism in the dashboard. It doesn't draw the fob into position correctly.

Not sure either of these would be picked up from Volvo diagnostic reader?

Not sure it is the starter.
The ignition lights don't come on when I press the start button.
My guess is the mechanism that pulls the fob into the dashboard has been stressed and doesn't position it properly.

Hi Bits,

I did a post a few days before you with a very similar issue. https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showt...=1#post2925861

It’s been about 10 days now since I changed the batteries in the key fobs and that seems to have resolved my issue (hoping not to jinx myself now!) Hopefully yours is a quick fix like that too. Keep us posted with how you go!

Cheers
