Have you tried bending the contact legs out a bit more so they exert more pressure on the metal strip? I have done this to a couple of cars with great success.

I think Luke has the answer, but if not I have a few spare bulb holders. But be aware that the original Volvo ones are different from some of the aftermarket lights.
If you need one, please post a picture of what you need. Ian F |

Thanks...yes, had the holder out, bent the contacts, cleaned the contacts, checked the wire crimp at the spade terminals on the rear light housing..and fitted a new bulb...hmmmm...if I twist the holder slightly, when pedal is depressed, I can get the brakelight to come on...if I then switch everything off , no brake light again...quite frustrating..so will try a replacment holder and go from there.

I think I should have some of these somewhere in the dark depths of my garage. I will have a look when next I get the opportunity.
Whereabouts are you? Ian F |

Yes I do have one - an original one marked "Volvo cp 33-3" from when I replaced the light units.
I can post if you want. Send me a pm for price and address exchange etc. Ian F |

They also look like the 240 estate rear bulb holders:~ could be worth checking.
