I'm not sure what you mean by "Y20". 20 years old? The 20 year old car is what was known as the P2 shape, no?

The P3 S60 does, indeed, offer more rear legroom than the old P2 S60. In fact, it measures the same as the V70 and it's quite adequate, although not up to Skoda Superb levels but, then again, how many cars are?

For a standard length saloon, no other vehicle of the same length offers the rear leg space that a Superb does (as far as I know). You'd have to have a limo body luxury car to get the rear leg space that a Superb has, like a Mercedes S Class limo or BMW 7 series limo, but they aren't standard length. A standard body S Class or BMW 7 series has less interior space than a Superb.

I don't know how Skoda manage it? Maybe the engine bay is cramped, which gives more inside space? The boot is huge too!

My 2009 Superb Hatchback was like a weird 'cut and shut' car, with a Golf front half and a much bigger rear body from a different vehicle welded to it. The front seats were situated further inboard than in other similar-sized cars, i.e. where they'd probably be in a Golf, and the steeriing wheel also seemed a little further away than normal, thus making it harder to get it correctly positioned if you like to have it a bit closer. Handling was very tidy, however, and probably quite Golf-like. It was, however, quite noisy as far as 'luxury' cars go, especially in Elegance trim with its 18" wheels.
