Default Volvo V70 D5 2003 injector misfire help

Hi I've got a 2003 Volvo V70 D5, it's got a missfie injector No1 if I pull all the other plugs off one by one the engine will splutter and die, but cylinder No1 there is no change, I've tested for voltage at the plug there is none, I've tested the white wire with the black stripe further up the loom, and there is voltage, nearer to the plug the voltage seems rather high, I've bought a new loom/ plug and fitted it but still no different, the 2nd injector had couple of splits in the wire and when I twisted them the engine died, I've taped these up for now to protect them, was hoping the new loom would be a cure but it's still only running on 4 cylinders, this is the only fault code below

Po261 injector 1 fault

Have you changed the injector? You have not mentioned that you have.
I am no expert on these engines but if if it were me, having checked out the basic electric side of things, I would be looking to change the injector itself.
Can you swap it round with another cylinder. Just suggesting as I am not sure if they need coding to a particular cylinder or just generally to the engine. I am supersized you have not had one of the more knowledgeable members back to you yet.

Hi thanks for the reply, I've just swapped the injector lead over with the one next to it and the wire harness working on the 2nd Injector so guess I need another injector!!

There you go. No need to scrap the old girl. They can be frustrating at times.

That could be the steering rack or power steering pump.

The steering could be the lower steering shaft universal joints seizing up, had this happen on mine, on mine it was the uj that fits onto the steering rack pinion, be aware though there are differences, look for a you tuber called peppermint and a you tuber called i am a spanner, they have videos on the lower steering shaft if that turns out to be the problem.
