stretching the range is a great EV meta game, does no one else play
I got a ~15% range increase in Feb putting EV tyres back on instead of sports tyre I bought by mistake when I down sized, who knew that all PZ4s are not the same.... seeing 36-39 since doing so, maybe I will finally get in the 40s with regularity in the warmer times only done so once or twice before changing wheel size but 49 is a strong ask, that's ~3.3 miles per Kw excluding charging loss. 35 miles seems reasonable from 14.9 usable battery if you are in single digit temps, it's a 2 tonne SUV, check all EVs of similar size and weight and you'll see that over 3 mile per kw is a bit of a pipe dream in low temps, even in normal temps, you're lucky not to be under 2. Have they given more battery on newer MY24 Volvo as they do claim 51/62 city which is very strong, upto 4m/kw based on the old usable, if so that is a massive step up in efficiency, would need improved motors or battery really I'd have though, specs now say 19Kwh battery too, rounding from 18.8 or new battery?

The actual range might be very different - on these Highland roads with zero indicated electric range I'm often getting 3 to 4 miles downhill before the ICE kicks in again. Conversely going up the hills kills the range.. If only there was a simple switch to change to ICE for the uphill sections rather than an option hidden in sub menus.. |

When going 60mph+, its best to use the ICE.

Its no different to running petrol really in terms of what consumes the most, energy use is high getting up to speed quickly or up inclines when maintaining a high speed you can still do this on little electric and it does a decent job, requires a lightfoot and obviously any down hill stuff knock into b for best recovery. but you can just leave the driving page up, that's what I do all other stuff I'm interested in is on the other display anyway.

I run mine in B mode everywhere as I have it in 1 pedal drive mode (creep mode turned off and B mode selected), something that is only available on the Extended Range models, not the earlier T8's (11.6kwh batteries and smaller).
You can regain a good bit of range using B especially if you find a good downhill stretch but I mainly use 1 pedal so I dont have to go anywhere near the brake pedal for the vast majority of my drives. I stand corrected, thanks.
