850 windscreen wiper fouling bonnet
Hi all.
Drivers side wiper is fouling the back edge of the bonnet. Looks as though the wipers are fitted the right way round (I.e. drivers side and passenger side wipers are fitted to the correct side of the car). Anyone come across this before? Grateful for any advice. Chris

Have you tried taking the wiper arm off the spindle and rotating it one or two splines anticlockwise so that it clears the bonnet? One thing you would need to check is that the wiper then doesn't foul the A pillar when in use.

Mine didn't get as far as fouling the bonnet edge but I did notice with mine that the part of the arm that goes on the spindle developed a bend over the years, due to the pressure of the spring to hold the blade against the screen. If you look down across the screen from the top does the base of the arm and the sprung part look reasonably straight or does it have a significant angle at the hinge? I 'fixed' mine by a bit of careful leverage in a vice, but I was fortunate to have a donor car too as the base part of the arm is an alloy which might well break if you try to bend it back.
