2008 wheel swap
Howdy,
I just picked up a 08 s80 3.2. Not a fan of the wheels. I came across a set of Ford focus st wheels that I like. Here are the stats. Will the Ford wheels fit? Has anyone done this yet? It's a 2.5 hour drive so I'm trying to be sure they fit before I go get them. Volvo wheels 17x7 5x108 50mm offset 63.4 bore Ford st wheels 18x8 5x108 55 mm offset 63.4 bore |

5x108 PCD will fit, ET55mm is a slightly narrower track.
You need the part number to lookup which tyres to fit. From what I can see 245 tyres require no checks, 225 and 235 tyres limit the axle weight.

https://www.wheel-size.com/size/volv...-eudm-32i--235 The correct tyres to use for that rim size are 245/40ZR18. Although, I'm not sure if I'd want a tyre aspect ratio that low with the way the roads are today. I know you might not like the look of the existing alloys, but they'll be far more comfortable than 18's.

Yes, they will fit. Very similar (exactly the same?) size to the "standard" V70 18" wheels. Just watch the weight rating - Mondeo wheels will be fine, but Focus wheels may not? Check the official Ford max weight rating. My car runs 18X8 Cratus (summer tyres) and Odysseus (winter tyres). Tyre size 245/40R18 97Y - 93Y is marginal for the V70 when loaded, so you need the 97Y rating. The Volvo website will tell you that 18" wheels require steering angle limiters. Mine was converted to 18" from 17" and I don't have those limiters and have had no trouble with that in 60,000 miles - no tyre rub. My V70's steering lock is way better than my wife's 2017 V40 on 18" wheels - that has a deflector/limiter from the factory...
Later V70s (from 2014 I think) moved to 235/40R18s. For some reason. Probably to lower fuel consumption/emissions. mk2 C70s always ran on 235s. On that note I recently experimented with dropping my tyres from the Volvo recommended 38psi "Eco" pressure to a standard 35psi. On the same 100-ish mile journey, consecutive days, same weather, similar traffic I got 4mpg better running on 38psi...

4mpg is a lot, don't get me wrong. Just comfort wise, its a sacrifice you make.

I don't find it hard. But this is my personal preference. It's far less harsh than my wife's V40 R-D on 18" wheels - and than her previous standard-suspended 17" wheeled C30. My car was also a bit vague in the steering on 35psi, with a bit of tramlining - that's much improved at 38psi. And I have found in the past that tyre wear is more even, cancelling out some of the natural V70 tendency to wear out the edges...
