Driveshaft gaiters
Anyone changed rear driveshaft gaiters on a 340? Any tips? Thx

Have you got a Haynes? Seems to be similar to the CVT versions if yours is a manual. Clean everything up chock the car on jack stands. Mark up flanges so they fit back together the same way. Looks like you need a good Allen socket. Best to use locking fluid when refitting. Looks fairly easy if you are used to this sort of thing. Comments based on looking at Haynes. No practical experience so hope that those who have can comment.

Clean out the heads of the allen bolts. Hammer in a socket, never try with a angled allen key

yes , I did one last summer it is very rare one splits on its own , in fact I have never come across one torn working on them since 1976. mine must have got tangled with a branch I think. The rubber is very thick as there is no steering they don't flex like a FWD CV Joint. I found one on ebay same as a certain Audi model . Dont use locking fluid just torque the bolts to the correct figure. someone might have to get them off one day.
