Mine had lived all its life in the fens when I bought it and on removing the liners there was a fair amount of fenland silt behind, particularly the front ones. With full Volvo history, I doubt the liners had been off before, so can only assume the blind rivets were factory original. The parts chappie didn't look askew when I asked for the availability of the rivets and were promptly ready for collection next day. The plastic rivets you linked to are the exact same as the ones along the bottom of the bumper - I think about five in all, from memory.

No special gun is required for these plastic rivets:~
Push the centre plastic bar fully through the fitting- it will then release the main body, pull this away once done. Try and keep the pin for reuse- a small metal punch/bar/drill will do this-may need a tap with a hammer as they can be tight. Replace with the same size plastic rivet, these can be had for "buttons" if you shop around (just had a box of different sizes posted over at very decent rates) On my two Volvo cars 88' 240 & 97'V70.... once the liners are removed and the underside cleaned then rust treated if necessary the areas are coated with oil diluted wax treatment prior to the liners going back etc. Good Luck. Ready for Le Mans
I've now covered a few hundred miles in the old girl, and now acclimatized to the scuttle shake, I'm absolutely smitten.
Heading off to Le Man's next week I've done quite a bit of work, but still a fair bit to do (don't know why I left the big jobs for the end?!) Oil Change + Filter New Coolant Bottle, flush and new coolant New Power steering bottle and fluid New tyres Wheels spray painted Obligatory Racing Stickers applied To do: New Front Discs New Front Brake Pads New Lower Control Arms Wheel tracking and alignment
