Evaporator Temperature Sensor- fault location and help
Hi all
I’ve had no aircon since buying the car, had it recharged no apparent leak but still not working. Fault code is showing evap sensor, would this stop the aircon from working? Also, the only thread I can find is its behind the dash, is this correct ? Does anyone know how accessible this is please ? Thanks for your help |

What car is it ?
With my car the aircon stopped working, I didn't get the codes read everyone I spoke to said it would be the compressor. I had the aircon regassed it was holding charge but it was not cooling. I had the compressor replaced and it is now ice cold. With the aircon set on maximum can you hear the compressor clicking on and off ?

Thanks, no I can’t hear it kicking in and when I plug the computer into it it says the sensor is reading -40c which I now believe is what it will read when duff.
I just can’t get eyes on where it is to figure out how to get at it. Just hoping it not like on the other Volvos where all dash has to come off Oh checked and compressor is getting 13v |

I had this exact problem with my XC60 2014MY. VIDA reported evap sensor as shorted, reading -40c.
After looking through the internet it looked like I would have to remove most of the dash to get to the sensor. However, I managed to get to it by removing the glovebox and the side middle console trim. Luckily for me, it was just unplugged so I didn't need a new sensor. Sensor location:

Brilliant thank you! At least I know which side to start on and if I can get away with just the glove and side off I’ll be very happy . I’ll look this weekend

I was saying to my self, how lucky you were it was just the plug out, what’s betting I’ve got to swap half the system out, but after a lot of faffing getting glove box loose it was the same as yours just not connected!! What’s the odds,
Computer now shows a reading and I can hear it engaging and blowing cold air. Will keep the mrs quiet for a day or so now. Cheers mate big help thatSaved me some money there |
