Had a nightmare with my V70 2002 with noise from my auxilliary belt. Replaced the power steering pump and tensioner but the noise only got worse. I know I should have checked ALL pulleys at first but I though I knew the origin of the noise! Clever cloggs!
Took the belt off and found the alternator pulley jammed and twisted out of itself some how. Ordered a new pulley and an extractor tool. Extractor arrived 2pm yesterday so I removed the old pulley, fortunately no damage to the alternator shaft, installed the new pulley, tough getting the 80nm torque on it. Put the alternator back, replaced radiator top hose, replaced power steering pump, put cover back on the engine control box, refilled fluids and started it up in time to go bowling in the rain! I can now hear the clock ticking again!! Had to do it quickly in the rain as I didn't want to have to get my Austin Cambridge out in that horrible weather.
