Xc60 fault codes with Juddering and hesitation
Hi
Does anyone know how to fix these codes and what they mean? DTC P2009 DTC P025C DTC P0472 The car is hesitation /juddering, at low revs and low speed. If you’re lightly touching the throttle and Revs are at around 1500 It’s worst from start up with a cold engine and in the warmer weather I’ve had the Emap pipe changed and no difference It’s a 2016 d4 fwd 2.0 r design Thank you Simon |

EGR valve (P2009). P025C relates to the fuel pump module. Exhaust pressure sensor sensor doesn't match the intake manifold pressure or ambient air pressure (P0472). I can't be certain, but I think you have EGR/EGR cooler issues - Common on the D4 engines and it definitely sounds like what other people have experienced when there's problems with the EGR/EGR cooler (the hesitation/stuttering at light throttle). Possibly DPF issues too or sensors that relate to it. Its best to get it properly diagnosed though. Is this car driven short journeys by any chance, not much motorway driving? If its just short journeys that you do, that won't help the EGR valve. Diesel's don't like town driving. I'd advise you bring it to a Volvo specialist and get the codes read with proper Volvo diagnostics. Take it from there.

My local independent was £1500 for valve and cooler fitted. Additional £275 for inlet manifold removal, clean and refit with new gaskets. |

Thank you for the reply It’s mainly town driving with motorway drive only one or twice a week for but only an hour trip! It’s been to an independent Volvo specialist but they can’t find the fault… |

Yes, but I wouldn't go spending money without a diagnosis, strange that the specialist can't find a fault despite codes being logged. Do they have access to Vida dice, or just generic scan tool? It might be worth handing it to main dealer to be sure, more expensive initially, but could be cheaper in the long run.

If you are keeping the car long term there are tuning places that will do a re-map and EGR delete solution (blanks the stupid thing off so problem does not re-occur). I had a 2016 R-Design VEA like yours, was a nice blue colour and good spec but the dreaded turtle appeared on the dash bringing the juddering you have. Although this was resolved with a new EMAP pipe it made me lose confidence in the car so I looked into the EGR issue and decided it was either re-map and delete or sell up. As I recall the EGR delete was quoted at around £400. I sold up and bought a D5. Last edited by RDesign4Life; May 25th, 2024 at 13:27. |
