I would be more than happy to get it checked out on a rolling road after / if I fit one, which brings me on to my next question, anyone know of anyone any good in Derbyshire / Notts with a rolling road setup?
Cheers,
Scoot.
As you can see I've only just installed mine and because it makes so much diference to the performance, I want the car checked out. ie you dont get something for nothing.
I only paid a tenner, its the ball and spring type.
If you do get one dont go too mad, he he he
Just make sure you get a boost gauge installed so you have a rough idea re: boost levels

The type I'm looking at is off eBay...

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...MEWA:IT&ih=004

I'm sure I've seen a few peeps on here have used these and are pleased with the results!

quite an interesting thread this one does an upsolute remap/chip not deal with boost pressure? what pressure were you boosting at pre MBC?

i used an mbc for ages with my remap as i was loosing boost somewere along the line & low down it was mental! now its holding boost with a decat & better cat back exhaust with the bcs controlling things its far better! ive seen my car boosting too 1.3-1.4 bar further up the rev range which i wouldnt dream of doing using an mbc.....

i think its down to personal opinion to how they want the car to drive. I've drove many a remapped car & altho there is no denying they were quick the drive is too tame for me, i like the power low down. Having a remap to increase fuel & igntion advance while keeping the MBC to control the boost would be a good combination, the remap removing the over-boost protection would be my only worry

custom map would be an option, but your still left with just the one non-adjustable setting

Well I've ordered it (I don't really fancy paying for another map), I've also emailed Simon from ccctech.co.uk (who did the original stage 1 map) to ask for his views on this!

Well I've spent most of the day trawling through the s40concepts forum and it seems that quite a few people there have had a remap and run a MBC, and they are mostly using the standard 12T (as they don't have T4s), not only that some seem to be running much higher than recommended BAR / PSI ratings (much higher than I would ever risk!).
I've also had an email back from Simon at ccctech (once again can't recommend him highly enough!), and he says that he remap did alter the boost pressure (but not to the max) and says it should be fine to use as long as I'm sensible.
Hopefully tomorrow I'll get round to fitting my boost gauge so I'll have a look at how it's boosting at the mo, then should get round to fitting the MBC and have a play over the weekend. I'll report back with findings!
